Okay so here’s LOFAF. First real go at a landscape, and I’m sort of okay with it? The non-blended style did not work very well when it came time to do the aurora borealis.
Like a lot of my “finished” drawings there’s a gif version, but it didn’t really… work this time. A lot more things were supposed to be “animated”, and there were simply too many colours. Also like with the first time trying to upload the John picture it seems it’s too big for tumblr to let me put it up. What a shame.
Land of Boil and Frogs: The player arrives with their forge in a land almost entirely flooded by water. The player’s towering home is mostly submerged, but their room stays dry. The tops of various steel and brass machines can be seen poking out of the top of the water with crude pipes running between them occasionally dipping below the surface. Colder regions feature sheets of ice and icicles hanging from the pipes and machinery. Lighting the forge heats the water and evaporates most of it, lowering the water level. The steam-powered machines kick into action, shaking off layers of rust, and the industrial land comes to life. The ground is cracked and ashen with fields of obsidian and the sky is full of smoke and vapour. Geysers burst from the ground and dams hold back bubbling lakes. Mines branch around the land, some sections flooded, others filled with lava. Steam powered boats that were used to traverse the flooded land lie beached upon the parched ocean floor. Coral and lily pads remain in some places. Frogs hide in the pipes and mines, often where it’s far too dangerous for them to be.
Consorts: Crocodiles. They clumsily operate the machinery and dig in the mines, flippant of the plumes of fire and steam.
Denizen: Proteus. He has flooded the land to silence the machines and sleep.
Quest: The seer must light the forge and breed the genesis frog.
Choice: Unable to find the key frog in the process of creating the genesis frog, the seer finds themselves in a cavern full of the amphibians. The voice of Proteus echoes over the croaking and instructs the player to prove their worthiness by identifying which frog is the disguised denizen. If they make the right choice then he will reveal why the seer has been struggling in their quest.
